About The Artist
THE ARTIST Shweta (Sharma) Bharadwaj, is a thoroughbred Loreto Lucknow alumni, daughter of an Arya Samaji mother greatly influenced by Bengali culture and literature, and a freedom fighter father equally deft in Persian and Urdu while writing Nazams and Shayari, transitioned smoothly through from being an avid student academician, singer, and sportsperson, to an educationist HOD English and Soft Skills Trainer, and very recently (during COVID pandemic) an ARTIST.
Being married to an Indian Air Force Officer, at a very early age soon after her PG History, she also became an adventurer, traveller, a Roadie, while being an educationist, and explored heritage/ historical sites, especially ancient relics, she studied deeply these sites vis-à-vis ancient Indian History and Culture. She took notes to teach the students about these places. Lo and behold! the pandemic happened and classes stopped or went online. Shweta decided to try her hand at Artwork, recollecting from her memory each HUE OF LIFE she had experienced.
Initially, it all started with doodling; and encouraged by the appreciation she received from family and friends, and art-loving followers on social media, her quality of work graduated onto Charcoals, Mix-media, Colour Pencils, Acrylic, decoupage, etc. She found her way to bring the beauty of abstraction to life by starting with CHARCOALS and playing with flowing acrylic having fun with paints, markers, coffee powder, and pastels as well.
Shweta (Sharma) Bharadwaj is fearless in trying various mediums and exploring them as a keen student of art. As they say, there is no specific age to learn, and she is a young artist, at age of 60 years, willing to explore and learn more and more. Art admirers throw up a challenge and she is ever willing to take a deep dive in field of art and explore and experiment. She is mostly self-taught and has taken the help of YouTube too. She started getting orders for portraits and paintings in charcoals and coloured pencils, a few of them large sizes of 6’X4’, from clients located in India, the US, Canada, and Australia, all through Social-Media.
Having visited Jehangir Art Gallery at Kala Ghoda, Mumbai and seeing the displayed artworks of seven different artists, she got enthused and decided to display her work for the first time at: CACHE Art & Craft Gallery, Bandra West, Mumbai on 18th December 2022. Shweta stays in Pune, Maharashtra and works from a home studio, getting regular tips from her husband, twin daughters, and son.
Transition Through Ages Reflecting Hues Of Life
" Through my paintings, I nurture our national heritage and culture reflecting my inner core, but my experimental forays enable me to communicate with the younger and current generation reflecting their thought process. Thus, bringing about a happy amalgamation of ancient, medieval, and modern-era artwork, giving a peek into these three different times. This helps me in self-actualization, freedom of expression, and happiness, which I pass on to those in my circle of influence.”
